📍 Local Knowledge

Latigo Canyon in LA County is an exposed point break with fairly consistent surf and is known to work best during the summer. It receives most of its swell from distant groundswells, with the optimal direction coming from the southwest. Offshore winds typically come from the north, and the spot works best around low tide as it begins to rise. While it can get crowded, surfers should be cautious of rips, submerged rocks, pollution, and localism due to private property concerns. The best surf occurs when a southwest swell aligns with offshore winds from the north. Despite summer being favored, the most consistent clean waves are usually found in winter, particularly in November.
