πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Knob Hill is an exposed beach break over a sand bottom, offering fairly consistent, rippable waves that favor shortboardingβ€”best conditions typically arrive in fall and winter. Offshore winds from the northeast groom incoming west and southwest swells, generating both left and right peaks that break over shifting sandbars. The spot works through all tide stages, with low to mid tide usually providing the most defined shape. It’s lightly crowded compared to nearby piers, thanks to limited access and a more local vibe. Surfers should watch out for strong rip currents, shorebreak, and fast sections during larger swells. The most consistent clean waves occur in winter, especially December through February.
