📍 Local Knowledge
Kellys Cove in San Francisco Marin is a fairly exposed beach and reef break with reasonably consistent surf, particularly during winter. It works best with distant groundswells from the southwest and offshore winds from the east, with some shelter from northwest winds. The break offers both left and right-hand waves on the beach and reef, and the quality of the surf remains consistent across all tide stages. Winter, especially January, provides the most reliable clean waves with light offshore winds. The spot can get crowded when the surf is good, and surfers should be cautious of rocks, localism, and sharks. Optimal conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with easterly offshore winds.
