Jack’s in Santa Cruz is a semi-exposed point/reef break that offers mellow, fun waves most consistently from November through March, with December and January delivering the best conditions. It thrives on west and northwest swells, especially when accompanied by light northeast offshore winds. Best surf is usually found at mid tide, when the waves peel smoothly down the line. Jack’s has a friendly, beginner-to-intermediate vibe and is generally more relaxed than nearby breaks. Though less crowded than the big-name spots, it still draws a good crowd, so lineup etiquette is appreciated.
