📍 Local Knowledge

Imperial Pier (North and South) in San Diego County is an exposed beach break with consistent surf, best during the winter months. It works optimally with a west-southwest swell and offshore winds from the east. Clean groundswells are the primary source of surf, and the beach break offers both left and right-hand waves. This is a fairly popular spot and can become crowded. Surfers should watch out for rip currents and pollution. The best conditions occur when a west-southwest swell meets offshore winds from the east, with January typically offering the most consistent clean waves.
