πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Hendry's Beach in Santa Barbara is a reasonably exposed beach break offering fairly consistent surf throughout the year. Offshore winds typically come from the north-northeast, with some natural shelter from northwest winds. The waves here come equally from local windswells and distant groundswells, favoring a swell direction from the west. The beach break produces both left and right-hand waves and works well at all tide stages. It’s often crowded, and surfers should be mindful of pollution hazards. The best conditions occur when a west swell pairs with offshore winds from the north-northeast. Winter, especially January, is the prime time for clean, rideable waves at Hendry's Beach.
