Grover Beach

Grover Beach in San Luis Obispo County is an exposed beach break with relatively consistent but sometimes variable surf, generally offering the best conditions in late winter and early spring—and also catching nice summer swells. Offshore winds in the early morning from the east to northeast help groom clean lefts and rights over shifting sandbars, adding variety to the lineup. The spot works well across most tide stages, though mid to high tide is often preferred, and it's rarely crowded thanks to its wide beach and multiple peaks. Surfers should watch out for rip currents, occasional kelp patches, and recreational vehicle traffic close to the shore. The most consistent clean waves generally occur in winter—especially January and February.
