📍 Local Knowledge
Fort Cronkite Rodeo Beach in Marin County is a sheltered sandbar break with very reliable surf, especially during summer when conditions are ideal. The spot works best with groundswells from the southwest and offshore winds from the northeast. It can get crowded when the surf is up, and the break tends to attract a lot of surfers. Hazards include rips, undertow, rocks, and sharks. Winter, particularly January, provides the most consistent clean waves with light offshore winds. Optimal conditions occur when a southwest swell aligns with easterly offshore winds.
