Pillbox and Fletcher Cove Park in San Diego County is an exposed beach break that only works occasionally, with the best conditions occurring when southwest swells combine with offshore winds from the east. Summer typically offers the most favorable conditions, though the most consistent clean waves are generally found in winter, especially in November. The break provides both left and right-hand waves and works best around mid tide when the tide is falling. It can often get crowded, and surfers should watch out for rocks.
