📍 Local Knowledge

Fernald Point in Santa Barbara is a fairly exposed point break. The best wind direction is from the north. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells, with the ideal swell direction from the southwest. The spot is often crowded, and surfers should be cautious of rocks. The best conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the north. Winter, particularly February, is the prime time for consistent clean waves at Fernald Point.
