📍 Local Knowledge

Emma Wood in Ventura is a fairly exposed beach and reef break with reliable surf that performs well under the right conditions. It works best when a southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the northeast, producing a mix of lefts and notably better right-hand reef breaks. The spot is most favorable around mid tide and typically receives distant groundswells rather than local windswells. While summer may offer pleasant conditions, the most consistent clean surf is found in winter, particularly in January. When the surf is up, expect a crowd, and be cautious of submerged rocks in the lineup.
