πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Double Point in SF Marin is an exposed break with surf that can be inconsistent but offers good conditions under the right circumstances. The beach is sometimes closed due to its location within a National Seashore and a seal rookery, especially during breeding season when seals have their pups. Waters here are extremely sharky, making the spot risky, and it is best accessed by boat. However, the paddle back to the boat can be unsettling, so it’s advised to go with a group of surfers. The best surf occurs when a west-southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the northeast. Winter, particularly January, offers the most consistent clean waves with light offshore winds. Despite the surfable conditions, many locals find the spot overrated due to its dangerous reputation.
