📍 Local Knowledge

DeHaven Creek in Mendocino County is an exposed beach break with reasonably consistent surf, especially favored during summer. It performs best on groundswells from the west-southwest combined with offshore winds from the east. Both left and right-hand waves are common, with the best conditions around mid tide. The break can get busy when the surf is up. Surfers should watch out for sharks, rip currents, rocks, and localism. The most consistent clean waves typically occur in winter, particularly January.
