📍 Local Knowledge

D and W in LA County is a sheltered beach and jetty break with fairly consistent surf. Winter is the prime season for surfing here. The best wind direction is from the northeast, with clean groundswells coming predominantly from the northwest. The breaks are all right-handers and perform best around mid tide. The spot can sometimes get crowded. Surfers should watch out for pollution, rocks, locals, and rips. Optimal conditions occur when a northwest swell coincides with offshore winds from the northeast. January, during winter, is the best month for consistent clean waves at D and W.
