📍 Local Knowledge

Cojo in Santa Barbara is a fairly exposed beach and reef break that offers reliable surf year-round, with the best conditions occurring when a Southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the north. It picks up both windswells and groundswells equally, and works best with a swell from the southwest. The break is rarely crowded, even during good surf, providing a more secluded experience. Summer is the prime season for clean, rideable waves, particularly in September. Surfers should be cautious of strong rips and submerged rocks.
