Cabrillo Point in LA County is a sheltered point break that doesn’t work very often. Summer offers the favored conditions for surfing here. Offshore winds typically blow from the north. The break tends to receive clean groundswells, with the best swell direction coming from the southwest. Good surf is available at all stages of the tide. The spot can sometimes get crowded. Surfers should watch out for rocks, locals, and pollution. The best conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the north. The prime time for consistent clean waves is during winter, most often in February.
