๐Ÿ“ Local Knowledge

Big Sur Rivermouth (Andrew Molera State Park) is a semi-point beach break that offers fast, thin right-handers and softer lefts, working best from June through October during low tide when the gravelly sandbar aligns just right. It excels with W to SW swells and easterly offshore winds, with the Big Sur River helping shape the sandbar for consistent, punchy surf. While it's one of Big Surโ€™s more reliable breaksโ€”often offshoreโ€”it can also close out and shift shallow quickly, demanding caution around strong currents and a competitive lineup. Hazards include river bar currents and occasional shark sightings.
