📍 Local Knowledge

Arroyo Laguna in San Luis Obispo is an exposed beach and reef break that works sporadically without a clear seasonal pattern. It receives distant groundswells, with the ideal swell direction from the southwest. The spot features both left and right-hand beach break waves alongside a right-hand reef break and performs well at all tide stages. Offshore winds from the northeast help create clean conditions. The area is rarely crowded, but surfers should remain cautious of rips, rocks, and sharks. The best surf conditions occur when a southwest swell coincides with northeast offshore winds, with autumn—particularly February—offering the most consistent clean waves.
