Arnold in Ventura County is a reasonably exposed sandbar break that doesn't work often and lacks a defined seasonal pattern. It performs best when a southwest swell aligns with offshore winds from the northeast, with surf typically driven more by groundswells than windswells. The break is most favorable around mid tide and remains largely uncrowded—even when the surf is up—making it a quiet option for those in the know. Surfers should be cautious of rip currents and occasional shark activity. The best chances for clean, rideable waves occur during winter, with December offering the most reliable conditions.
