Aliso Creek in North Orange County is a powerful, semi-exposed beach break with a sand and rock bottom, known for its heavy shorebreak and thumping barrelsβbest conditions typically arrive in summer and early fall. Offshore northeast winds clean up south and southwest swells, producing steep, hollow waves that break close to shore with little margin for error. The spot works best during low to mid tide, when the sandbars are more defined and offer better shape. Crowds can gather during peak swell events, and bodyboarders often dominate the lineup. Surfers should be very cautious of strong backwash, shallow impact zones, and shorebreak injuries. The most consistent clean waves occur in summer, especially July through September.
