📍 Local Knowledge

64th Place in LA County is a sheltered beach and reef break with unreliable waves. Summer offers the optimum conditions for surfing here. The ideal wind direction is from the northeast. Most surf comes from groundswells, with the best swell direction from the southwest. The break offers both left and right reef breaks. It is a fairly popular spot and can sometimes get crowded. Surfers should be cautious of rocks, locals, and pollution. The best conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the northeast. The prime time for consistent clean waves is during winter, most often in January.
