📍 Local Knowledge

13th Street in Orange County is a sheltered beach break that rarely works, with winter being the best season for surfing. Ideal conditions feature offshore winds from the northeast and clean groundswells from the west-northwest, producing left-peeling waves best around low tide. When surfable, the spot can get crowded. Hazards include locals, pollution, and rips. Optimal surf happens when a west-northwest swell aligns with northeast offshore winds. However, consistent clean waves are extremely rare in winter, especially in January, with most conditions too small for most surfers but occasionally suitable for beginners and groms.
