Port Renfrew on Vancouver Island is an exposed beach break that offers fairly consistent surf, especially during the colder months. It handles both wind and groundswells, with the ideal swell direction from the west, and performs best under offshore winds from the northeast. The beach features left- and right-hand peaks, providing options for various skill levels. It is rarely crowded, offering a more relaxed surf experience, but surfers should be cautious of dangerous rip currents, which are a known hazard. The best surf occurs when a west swell combines with NE offshore winds, with winter, particularly October, delivering the most consistent clean conditions.
