📍 Local Knowledge
China Beach on Vancouver Island is a quite exposed beach break known for inconsistent surf, especially flat conditions during summer. It works best with offshore winds from the east-northeast and receives some shelter from northwest winds. The break responds to a mix of groundswells and windswells, with the ideal swell direction from the northwest. The beach predominantly offers left-hand waves and is rarely crowded, making it a quieter option for surfers. The best conditions occur when a NW swell coincides with E-NE offshore winds, with winter, particularly December, providing the most consistent clean waves.
