Popotla in Baja (northern Baja, Mexico) is an exposed reef and point break that offers waves most often when southerly swells arrive, producing fast leftβhander peaks over a rocky/reef bottom that can extend for long rides when conditions align. Consistency is moderate β it doesnβt fire as reliably as major Baja Sur spots β and local ratings describe it as fickle and only working a few times a year when swell wraps in from the west or south, though quality on those days can be fun for intermediate surfers. The break performs best with offshore winds from the southeast to east, which help groom the wave faces, and is not typically crowded due to access challenges and its more remote location.
