πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Alfonsos in Baja Sur is an exposed reef break with dependable surf that works best during summer when conditions are most favorable. The break picks up a mix of groundswells and windswells with the ideal swell direction from the southwest and performs best with offshore winds from the east. It offers both left and right reef waves over a rocky bottom, so surfers should take care of rocks in the lineup. Crowds are generally light compared with more famous Baja breaks. The best conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with an east offshore wind, with the most reliable clean, rideable waves typically found in summer, especially July.
