📍 Local Knowledge

The Estuary in San José del Cabo, Baja Sur is an exposed beach break at the rivermouth that can offer fun lefts and rights over a sandy bottom, though it’s notoriously fickle and often polluted so waves don’t fire consistently and quality varies significantly. When conditions align, it can produce head‑high to overhead A‑frame peaks, but this only happens occasionally after big southerly swells and changes in the sandbar. It works best with southerly swell and offshore winds from the north, and is usually best around mid tide, but even when surfable it’s often crowded with locals keen to score the rare good waves.
