📍 Local Knowledge

Scorpion Bay in Baja Sur is an exposed point break that is fairly inconsistent but can be truly world class when conditions align, offering exceptionally long rides and earning high rankings from Surfer Magazine and Longboard Magazine. Summer provides the best overall conditions, with surf primarily generated by groundswells and the ideal swell direction coming from the south–southwest. The best conditions are reported when a south–southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the west–northwest, producing clean, perfectly groomed lines. Hazards include rocks and sea urchins, and the most consistent clean, rideable waves typically occur in spring, especially during May.
