📍 Local Knowledge

Rancho San Carlos in Baja Sur is an exposed reef break offering quite consistent surf, with summer providing the optimum conditions. The break is a right-hand reef that works best with offshore winds from the northwest and distant groundswells coming from the south–southeast. Surfers should be cautious of rocks in the lineup. The best conditions occur when a south–southeast swell combines with a northwest offshore wind, producing clean, rideable waves. The most consistent surf typically happens in summer, especially in May.
