📍 Local Knowledge

Campo Renes in Baja Sur is an exposed beach and reef break that offers quite reliable surf, with summer providing the most favorable conditions. The break mainly receives distant groundswells, with the ideal swell direction coming from the south and offshore winds blowing from the north–northwest to help shape clean wave faces. The best conditions are reported when a south swell combines with an offshore north–northwest wind, producing smooth, rideable waves. The spot is unlikely to be crowded even when the surf is good, but surfers should remain cautious of hazards such as rips and the presence of sharks, with the most consistent clean surf typically occurring in summer, especially during June.
