📍 Local Knowledge

Asuncion Bay in Baja Sur is an exposed beach and reef break that has quite consistent surf, with summer offering the favored conditions for surfing. The best conditions occur when a South-southwest groundswell combines with an offshore wind direction from the North-northeast. The location offers a variety of waves, including beach breaks with both left and right-handers, as well as both left and right-hand reef breaks. It is unlikely to be crowded even when there are waves, but surfers should take care of hazards including rips, sharks, and rocks. The best time of year for surfing Asuncion Bay with consistent, clean waves is during the summer, particularly the month of September.
