Whatipu, Auckland: A rarely working, exposed beach break with all-right waves, best surf occurs on a West-southwest groundswells with East-northeast offshore winds. Optimal conditions are during high tide when the tide is rising. Summer is often flat, while Autumn—particularly April—offers the most consistent clean waves. Dangerous rips are present, and the beach can be crowded.
