📍 Local Knowledge

North Piha, West Coast Auckland – Exposed beach break with fairly consistent surf year-round. Waves work best on a Southwest swell with offshore East winds but can still be surfable in light onshore conditions. Groundswells and windswells are both common. Prevailing left-breaking waves; optimal around high tide during the rising tide. Popular spot that can get crowded; watch for rips and rocks.
