πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Muriwai Beach (West Coast, Auckland) – An exposed and consistent beach break that works year-round, Muriwai produces both left- and right-hand waves. The best conditions occur with a southwest swell and offshore easterly winds, particularly during autumn (February) when clean, rideable waves are most frequent. The break handles both windswells and groundswells, with optimal surf typically around high tide on a rising tide. While it can get crowded during good swells, surfers should be cautious of strong rips and occasional sharks.
