πŸ“ Local Knowledge

Maori Bay (West Coast, Auckland) is an exposed beach break that works year-round, offering both lefts and rights. It receives a consistent mix of groundswells and windswells, with the best surf generated by a southwest swell combined with offshore easterly winds. Optimal conditions occur around mid-tide on a rising tide, especially in autumn, with March being the most consistent month for clean, rideable waves. The spot is rarely crowded, but surfers should watch out for rips, rocks, and occasional sharks.
