📍 Local Knowledge

Playa de Niembro in Asturias is a sheltered beach break that offers inconsistent surf, working only once in a while, with winter being the optimum season. This spot provides both left and right-hand waves from an equal measure of windswells and groundswells; while it is best surfed around low tide and is unlikely to be too crowded even when the surf is up, visitors should be mindful of strong rips. The best conditions occur when a Northwest swell combines with South offshore winds, with February being the prime month for consistent, clean waves.
