Puerto Marina in Andalucia is a fairly exposed sandbar break that only works once in a while, with autumn and winter being the best seasons for waves. Offshore winds from the north-northwest, with some shelter from southwest winds, help clean up the surf. Waves are more often generated by local windswells than distant groundswells, and the ideal swell direction is from the southeast. The sandbar break offers both left and right hand waves, and the quality of the surf isn’t significantly affected by the tide. When the surf is up, it’s likely to be crowded. The best month to surf Puerto Marina is November.
