📍 Local Knowledge
La Barossa in Andalucia is an exposed beach break that has quite consistent surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. Offshore winds blow from the east-northeast, and there is no shelter here from cross-shore breezes. It tends to receive a mix of groundswells and windswells, with the ideal swell angle from the west-southwest. The beach breaks offer lefts and rights, providing good surf at all stages of the tide. It’s unlikely to be too crowded, even when the surf is up. Surfers should beware of buoys, fishing nets, and pollution. The best conditions reported for surf at La Barossa occur when a west-southwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the east-northeast. The best time of year for surfing La Barossa with consistent clean waves—rideable swell with light/offshore winds—is during winter, most often in the month of December.
