📍 Local Knowledge

El Chanquete in Andalucia is an exposed beach and reef break with quite reliable surf, though summer tends to be mostly flat. The best conditions come with a southeast swell and offshore winds from the north-northeast. Windswells are much more common than groundswells here, and the beach break offers both left and right-hand waves. The surf quality is good at all stages of the tide. It can sometimes get crowded, and surfers should watch out for rocks. The best month to surf El Chanquete is September.
